Who We Serve

Families

Generational wealth planning designed to protect assets, fund education, and build lasting legacies.

Family financial planning is, at its core, about more than money. It is about the values you want to instill, the opportunities you want to create, the security you want to provide, and the legacy you want to leave. At Ceremian Financial, we approach family financial planning with an understanding that the most important outcomes are not measured purely in dollars — they are measured in the well-being, opportunity, and financial security of the people you love most.

Families bring a unique complexity to financial planning. Multiple income sources, education funding timelines, insurance needs that evolve as family structure grows, estate planning that must consider spouses and children, and the challenge of balancing present financial obligations against long-term goals — all of these require a holistic, integrated approach that considers the family as a single financial unit rather than a collection of individual balance sheets.

Education Funding

For most families with children, education funding is one of the most significant and time-sensitive financial planning priorities. College costs continue to rise at rates well above general inflation, and the financial burden of undergraduate — and potentially graduate — education can be substantial. Planning early, contributing consistently, and selecting the right savings vehicles can make an enormous difference in the family's ability to fund education without sacrificing other financial goals or burdening children with excessive student debt.

529 college savings plans offer tax-advantaged growth and tax-free withdrawals for qualified education expenses. They can also be used for K-12 private school tuition (up to $10,000 per year) and, with recent legislative changes, can now be rolled over to Roth IRAs if not fully used for education — eliminating much of the "what if they don't go to college" concern. UGMA/UTMA custodial accounts offer more flexibility but with different tax treatment. We help families model education funding scenarios and build a funding strategy that fits within the broader financial plan.

Life Insurance and Family Protection

The foundation of every family financial plan is protection. Life insurance ensures that a family's financial security is not solely dependent on the continued income of its breadwinners. Disability insurance protects against the far more likely event of a working-age income earner becoming unable to work. For families, getting the right types and amounts of coverage — and reviewing that coverage as the family's circumstances evolve — is a critical priority.

Estate Planning for Families

Every family with children needs an estate plan. Full stop. Without a will, a court will decide who raises your children. Without appropriate trusts, assets may pass to minor children in ways that are impractical and legally complex. Without beneficiary designations that are properly coordinated with your estate plan, significant assets may pass outside your will entirely — to the wrong people or in the wrong proportions.

We coordinate closely with estate planning attorneys to ensure that every family client has a complete, current, properly executed estate plan — and that the plan is reviewed and updated after every major life event. Guardianship designations for minor children, revocable living trusts to avoid probate, irrevocable trusts for tax planning, and carefully structured beneficiary designations are all part of the comprehensive estate planning framework we build for family clients.
